FREE FAMILY SERIES
Each season, the Mankato Symphony Orchestra gives four shows designed to introduce young children to the delights of classical music. Each show is hosted by an actor in costume and the MSO String Quartet. They are a truly fun experience no matter your age, and it's a great way to get your children interested in music.
These concerts are created for children and their caregivers. All ages welcome! The performance features musicians, actors, storytelling, and musical activities. Concerts have a runtime of approximately 45 minutes and are performed without intermission

Growing up in Mankato, MARK WAMMA began playing violin in fifth grade when it was offered in the public schools. Through middle and high school, he participated in the Mankato East orchestra and the Mankato Area Youth Symphony Orchestra (MAYSO). After high school, he attended Gustavus Adolphus College from which he graduated with a B.A. in Music focusing on violin performance. He has had the privilege to have as teachers Peter McGuire, Brian Buckstead, Jonathan Magness, Lara MacLean, and Marilyn Bos.
Since graduating, Mark has worked to make a career in music. As a performer, he is a member of the Mankato, La Crosse, and Dubuque Symphony Orchestras. He is Assistant Principal Violin 2 in both the Mankato and La Crosse orchestras and serves as the coordinator of the MSO's Family Series. Mark additionally serves as a substitute musician for other regional symphonies and performs as a freelance musician in the Mankato-St. Peter area both as a soloist and with his quartet, the River Valley String Quartet. As a teacher, his violin and viola studio has grown to include locations in Mankato, St. Peter, and New Ulm as well as adjunct teaching at Bethany Lutheran College, Martin Luther College, and Minnesota State University, Mankato. Lastly, he has returned to MAYSO as the director of the Northstar Strings, Youth Philharmonic, and Chamber Strings ensembles. He also serves as the Operations Director for the organization.
