Eberhard E. Engel is a member of the Mankato public schools music department and has been the Orchestra Director at Mankato West High School and Dakota Meadows Middle School for the last 10 years. Before coming to Mankato Engel taught in St. Cloud and Faribault including Orchestra, general music, and guitar. Along with the public schools he has also previously directed the Long Prairie Chamber Orchestra. He also teaches privately with his own Engel School of Music in Northfield, MN.
Eberhard holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Minnesota State University – Mankato and a Masters of Arts in Music Education from The University of Iowa. He is an active composer and performer, including writing works for his own school groups, friends abroad, and his own progressive rock band Angels Inferno.
At Mankato West High School Engel has performed many standards of the Orchestra world, and brought new pieces and ideas that many others may not try. His students have performed in Europe, at Our Lady of Good Counsel with his wife on the organ twice, sung master works like Henryk Górecki's Symphony of Sorrowful Songs and Un bel dì vedremo from Puccini, and even the power of metal with Rammstein’s Ohne Dich. Eberhard is a member of American String Teachers Association (ASTA), Minnesota chapter of ASTA(MNSOTA), Guitar Foundation of America (GFA), and the National Association for Music Education(NAfME).
