Mozart's Requiem Chorus Auditions

The Mankato Symphony Orchestra is seeking singers to audition and participate in the 2025 performance of Mozart's Requiem. 

​

The chorus will be under the direction of Jon Hermanson and the Mankato Symphony is under the direction of Music Director Ernesto Estigarribia. As a thank you for your time and talent, chorus members are welcome to recieve 2 tickets to MSO's season finale concert on May 4th in New Ulm, or one season pass to our 25-26 Symphonic Series.

The rehearsal schedule for the chorus is as follows, and will be held in Silber Hall (YFAC101) in the Ylvisaker Fine Arts Center on the campus of Bethany Lutheran College.

Auditions:

January 13, 6:30-10:30pm (Silber Hall, Bethany Lutheran College, 700 Luther Drive, Mankato, MN )

Choral rehearsals (Ylvisaker Fine Arts Center, Bethany Lutheran College unless noted)

1. February 1, 10am-12pm

2. February 8, 10am-12pm

3. February 15, 10am-12pm

4. February 22, 10am-12pm (Location TBD)

5. March 1, 10am-12pm

6. March 8, 10am-12pm

1. Chorus with Ernesto: Tuesday, March 12, 2025 @ 6:00-7:15pm (St. Peter HS)

2. Rehearsal with orchestra: Thursday, March 13, 2025 @ 7:00-9:30pm (St. Peter HS)

3. Rehearsal with orchestra: Friday, March 14, 2025 @ 7:00-9:30pm (St. Peter HS)

4. Dress Rehearsal: Saturday, March 15, 2025 @ 2:30pm-5:00pm (St. Peter HS)

Performances:

1. Performance: March 15, 2025 @ 7:00pm (St. Peter HS)

2. Performance: March 16, 2025 @ 3:00pm (Grace Lutheran, Fairmont)

Audition Information:

Each audition will take place individually with Chorusmaster Jon Hermannson for 10-15 minutes, and will consist of two parts:

1. A performance excerpt from the end of the first movement, measures 34-64. 

2. A brief session of vocalises led by the Chorusmaster in order to explore range, agility, and tonal recall.
